This can be useful for technicians, board operators, designers, performers, and really anyone interested in learning theater technology. Qlab is the main playback system that many live theaters use and it is useful for all those who participate in theater to have a familiarity with it.

Bright Ideas: Designing Costumes with Lights and Puppets will take you on an exciting journey into the world of costume innovation by exploring how to integrate lighting and puppetry into your designs. This workshop is perfect for anyone curious about combining artistry with technical expertise. Here’s what you’ll delve into:

Research and Exploration: Learn how to frame and investigate the key questions essential for successfully adding lighting and puppetry elements to costumes.
Collaboration Across Disciplines: Gain practical insights into working with specialists in costumes, lighting and puppetry to achieve cohesive designs.
Materials Investigation: Explore the materials and tools involved, such as lighting components, batteries, fuses, puppet structures and support systems.
Build Process: Learn how to create maquettes and mockups, explore techniques for adding lighting, understand safety fundamentals and introduce troubleshooting strategies to address common challenges.
Final Preparations: Understand the finishing steps, including handing off costumes to performers and wardrobe teams and ensuring proper storage for longevity.
