Graceful Feedback
Thursday January 30, 2025 9:15am - 10:45am EST
General, open to all. How do you offer feedback with specificity that empowers the other? How do you stay open and available to listen on the receiving end? Our requirement to give feedback should never be clouded by one's own sense of agenda. In this workshop you’ll cultivate conscious communication skills to develop grace in your feedback. Gain clarity on how you can reinforce your listening to authentically support your scene partner, director, students, friends, loved ones, and yourself by using the gift of words. If you can change your language, you can change your story. Please bring a journal with an open mind and heart. Be prepared to gain a new sense of community!

Making Friends with Your Character
Thursday January 30, 2025 4:00pm - 5:30pm EST
General, open to all. No person exists solely in stereotypes or emotional values. While it is easy to write off a stranger, coworker or acquaintance as being just a jerk, a sociopath, psycho, idiot, racist, control freak, from the perspective of a theater maker it makes for a boring, surfaced level rehearsal process. What makes our characters who they are? Why do they do the things they do? What do they want? What is getting in their way? How do they move thru the world? In this workshop, participants will be given a scene from a play and asked to unpack who the people in that scene are? We will look at objectives, obstacles and tactics to decipher how these characters navigate the world to get what they want.

General, open to all. How can young professionals or students entering the profession can navigate an ever changing professional landscape, follow opportunities, and be open to discovering new facets and paths. I am imagining this will primarily be geared towards Design\/Tech students. It will explore opportunities outside "traditional" theatre... i.e. in trade show, rental, touring, event design etc.

Lighting color with LEDs
Friday January 31, 2025 11:00am - 12:15pm EST
General, open to all. This presentation goes through the challenges and opportunities in lighting with LEDs. This class will go through basic LED color theory and spectral content. We will take a deep dive in complex additive color systems, and also look at some of the more basic arrays and subtractive LED systems. This class is good for those who are interested in lighting design, but also for scenic and costume designers to help them understand how (and why) their palettes will look different on stage.
