About me
I am Ali Filipovich, a costume designer originally from Minnesota, but I have
lived and worked in various locations; Minnesota, Wisconsin, Spain, Iowa,
Pennsylvania, Colorado, Tennessee and now Massachusetts. This has provided me with exposure to different cultures, an ability to easily adapt to new places and situations and a network across the United States. In
addition, I have worked in academia (Luther College, University of Memphis, and Salem State University, theatre (Ashland Community Theatre, Face2Face
Theatre, University of Memphis, Playhouse on the Square, Tennessee
Shakespeare Company, Salem State University and more), dance (Luther College, Sonlight Dance Studios, Ballet Memphis and more), opera (Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Central City Opera) and mascots/corporate (Vstar Entertainment- they created things like Sesame Street Live, Paw Patrol Live). This has allowed me to understand the different needs of the specific industries and to learn niche techniques that I can apply in different situations and pass on to students.
I will also be presenting with Ryan Goodwin, who will speak on the puppetry aspect, and Michael Harvey, who will speak on the lighting component.
