About me
My name is Gary Kingston. I am a native of California, where my passion for theater first took root as a member of LACT in San Francisco. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of appearing in a variety of plays, including "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest," "Present Laughter," and "A Cry of Players." My journey in the world of acting has also taken me to the stages of Stockholm and London, and here in New York City, I have had the opportunity to perform at venues such as Synchronicity Space, Playwrights Horizons, and The Neighborhood Group Theater, where I played the lead in the original production of William Mastrosimone’s "Air Guitar" on Theater Row.
In addition to my work as an actor, I am also a director, with my work being showcased at various NYC venues including The Arclight Theater and Alice’s Upstairs. I graduated in 1981 from The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, where I studied under the guidance of Sanford Meisner, Richard Pinter, and Ron Stetson. Mr. Meisner later trained me to be a teacher, and for over 20 years, I have been a senior member of the acting faculty at The Neighborhood Playhouse. My lived experiences as an actor, director, and educator have enriched my understanding of the diverse and inclusive community we strive to create. Through my work, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with individuals from all walks of life, each bringing their unique perspectives and talents to the table. This diversity not only enhances our creative endeavors but also fosters a more inclusive and vibrant community.
Thank you for allowing me to share a bit about myself, and I look forward to our time together.
