About me
I am a theatre artist and educator. I have been an actor and director in New York and the Boston area for over a decade. I'm a member of Actor's Equity Association and am part of the full-time faculty at Bridgewater State University. At BSU, our mission as a department-- and my mission as an educator and artist--goes beyond the classroom and encompasses a larger world of social progress through the arts. As both an artist and educator, my goal is to create positive and inclusive social change.
In the classroom and in the productions I direct, I strive to foster an environment in which my students are heard, both in their art and in their lives. It is of the utmost importance for students to learn that what they have to say matters; and that they should feel empowered to use their voices to impact the world around them for the better. Through theatre, we are able to reach people in a manner unlike any other art form.
While my educational objective reaches beyond the classroom, it fundamentally and necessarily starts there. In order to achieve my teaching objectives, my work with students is hands-on and individualized. In order to achieve my teaching objectives, my work with students is hands-on and individualized. Each student is different—physically, vocally, intellectually–each coming into the process with a different backstory that informs who they are as students, artists, and people. For this reason, each student needs something different in order to unlock their full potential. While everyone can learn something from watching and reading about how others work, in theatre it is imperative to put in the time to work individually with each student on their own technique. In this way, we can make theatre training a safer and more inclusive environment.
