About me
I’m a student who's just wrapped up their degree a semester early at Eastern Connecticut State University where I double majored in Communications and Theatre. I’m a third generation performer in professional theatre, whose family have also made a living out of playwriting, teaching, producing and directing. Though I’ve been writing in Communications radio/television broadcast for around 4 years, I only began playwriting as of 2 years ago, in which time I’ve written 2 full length shows, one of which I had produced at the university. I’ve also written quite a few short plays, one of which was produced professionally in outdoor theatre. At my university I was the founder and President of the Alpha Psi Omega Honors Society, while also being the University Drama Society President, both positions which I used to attempt to co-produce student shows which were otherwise not being given proper or equitable support. As I continue seeking professional contracts in outdoor theatre and pursuing grad school, my hope is to help others traverse the often difficult and bureaucratic process of breaking into playwriting/producing/directing, especially when they are either insufficiently supported or actively prohibited in pursuing a career in those fields by university faculty or administration. I’ve presented some of these topics at various undergraduate research conferences in the northeast, where others have recommended I ought to further my advocacy for student-led projects in collegiate academia. As a student presenter, I hope I might offer some relatable insight to fellow students who might otherwise not find a voice in the overwhelming amount of faculty presenters.
